Virginia CCW – NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course



Designed for new or seasoned shooters, this course requires online instruction before attending hands-on exercises and range qualification.

Note: Upon registering and submitting payment, students will receive a Course Control Code to complete the Basics of Pistol Shooting Online Course. If purchased separately, students will need to pay $60 in addition to the course fee.

Students must complete the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting online course before attending live fire range exercises. Live fire range exercises will be held at Silver Eagle Group in Ashburn, Virginia.

Course subject to cancellation if 6 or fewer students enrolled 24 hours prior to start time.

In this course, students will learn:

  • Gun safety rules;
  • Proper operation of semi-automatic pistols;
  • Ammunition knowledge and selection;
  • Pistol selection and storage;
  • Shooting fundamentals;
  • Pistol inspection and maintenance;
  • Marksmanship; and
  • Shooting range safety

Successful completion of this course will qualify the training requirement to apply for a Virginia CCW permit.

Use of a Glock 17 pistol, 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition, eye protection and ear protection is included. Students may use their own firearm but must provide 50 rounds of appropriate caliber ammunition (factory grade only, no re-loads).
